We talk to Umesh to find out more about his role, what his aspirations are and a bit more about his life outside of work.
What is your job role at We Are Amnet?
I am a Senior Account Manager within the Client Services team here at We Are Amnet. I have been with the company almost 3 years! Based in the UK I manage client projects predominately for EMEA but also globally, focusing specifically in packaging and digital projects.
What does a typical day look like?
My day starts with a quick workout on the Peloton bike – this usually gets me ready for my busy day ahead. It’s important I have a team call with our colleagues in Chennai after all, they are 5 hours ahead of us so it’s always good to get status updates across the multiple projects that are happening.
I will check in with my clients to get updates on anything that may have changed in the fast-paced industry we work in. This allows me to ensure resources are lined up to deliver project on time and to a high standard.
What are some of the challenges you face?
One of the challenges we face is not being able to show-off some of the amazing work we do at We Are Amnet (because of NDA’s). This can make the job a little tougher when trying to onboard new clients as naturally they will want to understand what we have worked on and who for – we do have an amazing showreel now which showcases our capabilities.
What do you most enjoy about your job?
What I enjoy about my job is that every day brings something different whether that be meeting new clients, new colleagues or managing new projects. The variations in project types allows me to work with our different teams across the globe.
What did you do before working at We Are Amnet?
Before joining We Are Amnet I worked for DIY retailer Wickes where I was in various Marketing Manager roles looking after point of sale, packaging and publications. In this role I was able to work with agencies on many creative briefs. My wealth of experience working for Wickes allows me to think like the end client in the retail world.
Do you have any personal or career goals?
I would like to continuously challenge myself in every role that I do. I am currently part of an awesome team working for a company who I’ve seen grow year after year and I am excited to be a part of this journey. I would love to develop further within We Are Amnet.
Do you have any hobbies outside of your work?
I used to have many hobbies but with a 3-year-old son, most of my time is spent doing everything he loves doing. I do like sports, in particular football and cricket and try to get tickets every now and again to these sporting events.
What was the last book your read/podcast you listened too?
I’m not much of a reader to be honest, but the last book I did read (which was quite recent) is ‘Psycho-Cybernetics’ by Maxwell Maltz – it’s a good read if you are into motivational and self-help books!
